Live Streaming on the osprey nest! From April 8th at 10:00

This is a very important moment for the biodiversity of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. For the first time ospreys are breeding in here and what is truly amazing is that we will all be able to watch this incredible event from our homes. Live streaming on the nest will begin on Thursday April 8 at 10:00.

Landa,and Roy are the main characters in this beautiful story. The female is from Les Landes in France, the area which gives her her name. Roy is from Scotland and is named after the Scottish naturalist Roy Dennis

The pair of ospreys will provide us with an incredible experience. What could be more amazing than watching the life of these majestic birds without disturbing them? We will be able to observe them fishing in the waters of Urdaibai. We will see them bringing their captures to their gigantic nest and who knows what other surprises in the breeding period.

In nature everything is unpredictable but we hope that this couple will succeed in raising chicks. It will be difficult for many reasons. In order to show its strength and presence, the osprey builds a huge nest which is easy to see. In this way the male attracts the female. However, such visibility makes the birds vulnerable.

We would like to ask everyone visiting Urdaibai not to approach the area of the nest. Boats, dogs, tourists, paddle surfers and canoes could cause the ospreys to abondon the nest if they are disturbed
